Obituary of Teresa Margaret McCarthy

McCarthy, Teresa M. – Age 83, of Vogler’s Cove. Passed away on September 23,2024 at South Shore Regional Hospital, surrounded by friends and family.

Teresa was born in Bridgewater, N.S. to Roy and Lois Slauenwhite on July 1,1941. She married the late Arthur McCarthy. Teresa worked in a fish plant for more than 10 years. She later left the fish plant to take care of her mother for 15 years before her passing, and also took care of her granddaughter, Stacey for many years. She enjoyed going down to the barn with the animals. Hanging out with Tommy cat, Pola dog and Lilly dog, and spending time in the woods with her grandson, Lee. Teresa also enjoyed going to town with her daughter, Brenda and shopping the way she did.

She loved watching all her children and grandchildren grow up into amazing people. She enjoyed her nights at bingo with her daughters, Kathy and Brenda, and loved her road trips to Shelburne, to her granddaughter, Tina’s, to see her great-grandchildren, Nova, Hailey, and Hannah, with little Buster dog. Teresa also enjoyed the company of her friends and neighbors, laughing and joking around.

She is survived by daughters, Kathy McCarthy (Garnet Slauenwhite), Brenda (Kevin) Herman; son, Cory Slauenwhite (Noelle Schnare); grandchildren, Tina Slauenwhite (Tom Jacklyn), Lee Slauenwhite, Stacey Slauenwhite, Nevaeh Slauenwhite, Preston Slauenwhite, Kullen Slauenwhite, and Daylen Slauenwhite; great-grandchildren, Nova Rhuland, Hailey Jacklyn and Hannah Jacklyn.

Besides her parents Roy and Lois, Teresa was predeceased by her sister, Mary Slauenwhite, Vogler’s Cove; and brother, Basil Slauenwhite, Vogler’s Cove.

A public visitation will be held Monday, September 30^th, 2024, from 6 – 8 p.m., in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. A funeral service for Teresa will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 1^st, 2024, at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, with Rev. Neil McEwen officiating. Public interment will be held at Sea Side Cemetery, Vogler’s Cove, immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of donations, the family will be accepting flowers for the visitation/service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York St., Bridgewater.
