Madelyn Delaney

Obituary of Madelyn Mae Delaney

DELANEY, Madelyn Mae – Age 85, Lower Branch, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Freeman) Morgan.

Maddie was a very loving and devoted Mom. Family was always her top priority. Maddie made friends wherever she went and kept everyone laughing with her special humour. Her favourite saying was “Don’t call me Madelyn, my name is Maddie”. Maddie especially enjoyed family camping trips. Summer weekends were spent in a campground, somewhere in Nova Scotia, playing horseshoes, etc. with a good barbecue to finish off the day. Bowling was another fun activity. If you heard laughter coming from the bowling alley, for sure, it’s coming from Maddie’s team. Many good times were had there. Maddie was a very active member of the Bridgewater Baptist Church for many years, always ready to lend a helping hand or bake some goodies. Maddie was a good friend to all who knew her. She will be missed.

Surviving are her sons, James “Jamie” Conrad, and Robert “Robbie” Conrad, both of Lower Branch; sister, Julie MacDonald, Halifax; grandchildren, Brittany Corkum and Julie Conrad; stepdaughters, Tina Delaney and Tiffany Delaney (Gary Goode) and stepson, Jack Delaney (Kathy Burgoyne); and several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Granville Conrad and her second husband, James Delaney; sisters, Katherine Manley, Anne Douglas, Frances Mailman, Ellen Robart; and brother, Robert Morgan.

There will be no service held at this time. No flowers please, donations may be made to the Bridgewater Baptist Church, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, where on-line condolences and messages may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
