Obituary of Avery Bertram Zwicker

ZWICKER, Avery Bertram, 86 of Lapland, passed away on October 16, 2024, at the South Shore Regional Hospital. He was a son of the late Newton and Mildred (Naugler) Zwicker. Born and raised in Camperdown, he was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. He was a former member of the Maritime Ox Pulling Association, and spent many weekends at local ox pulls or making yokes. Through the years his work also found him enjoying the outdoors, farming, working in the woods and then working at Harry Freeman and Sons for 31 years retiring at the age of 61.


He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Melda (Crouse) Zwicker; children, Kirk (Linda), Tantallon, Philip (Janice), Waterloo, Sonia (Gary) Flynn, Camperdown, Lisa (Derek) Lewis, Lakeside. He is also survived by grandchildren, Samantha (Nate), Julia (Ben), Katherine (Ryan), Nicholas (Morgan), Riley, Brenna (Jonathan), and their mother Linda, Ella, and Connor. Six great grandchildren Aubrey, Grace, Cameron, Drew, Everett, and Lillian. Siblings, Norman (Isabelle) Zwicker, Stanley (Diane) Zwicker, Bryant (Janet) Zwicker, Rodney Zwicker, Sharon (Paul) Crouse, Donna Zwicker; and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Avery was pre-deceased by sister, June (Spencer) Beck; brother, Marlin Zwicker; and sister Brenda, who died in infancy.

 

The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and health care providers who assisted in his care, and for their compassion.

 

There will be a private family graveside service, and at a later date, a celebration of life. No flowers by request, donations can be made to the Health Services Foundation of South Shore, the VON, or a charity of your choice.
