Obituary of Anna Lee Beeler

A devoted mother of six children who all gave her a run for her money, Anna Lee (Longmire) Beeler, dedicated her life to making home cooked meals, refereeing boxing matches in the house, providing us with comfort and protection, and making sure she set us straight anytime we got out of control. There was no mistake we could make that couldn’t be forgiven and no circumstance that could make her love us any less. 

Anna was our beloved mother, and it is with with heavy hearts that we announce her passing on October 27, 2024 at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, Lunenburg County.

She was born on August 11, 1936 to the late Kendall and Beulah (Weir) Longmire, in Milford, Annapolis County and later settled in Elmwood, Lunenburg County, with her husband, John “Howard” Beeler. 

Her surviving children, Frances, Evelyn (Joey), Evangeline, Harriett (Allan), and Chris are left with a void in our hearts that cannot be filled; along with her grandchildren, Shawn (Jennifer), Shannon (Jason), Adam (Rena), Matthew (Ashley), Anna (Mark), Alyssa (Scott), Brandan, Brett (Candace) and Jordan (Jenna); 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special daughter-in-law, Paula (John).

Waiting to greet her in her afterlife was her son, our brother, John, who predeceased her; as well as her late husband, Howard Beeler, her parents, Kendall and Beulah; brothers, Ray, James (Jimmy), Donald (Donnie); and sister, Margaret (Peggy). 

Mom always took time to enjoy the simple things in life and never took anything for granted. She saw the good in everyone she met and always made the best out of the most difficult situations. Mom could embroider a pillowcase like nobody’s business, she had the best salt and pepper shaker collection and could dry cutlery in a flash. She always put herself last, until she finally learned to love the attention of those near and dear to her in her elder years - especially the younger men in her life! 

Until we can be with her again, mom will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and for instilling in us the values of love, kindness, and resilience. Although we will miss her profoundly, her strength and love has left a lasting impact on each of us, and we find comfort in knowing her legacy will live on through many cherished memories with all who knew and loved her. 

We extend our thanks to all those who showed mom kindness and respect, especially in recent years, and to those who have sent messages and offered condolences in recent days. 

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9 at 11 a.m., in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, NS. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Saint Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Elmwood, Lunenburg County. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care- Recreation Fund or Charity of Choice.
