Obituary of Calvin Blake Baker
Baker, Calvin Blake – Age 69 of Dayspring, passed on December 11, 2024, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Antigonish, Calvin was the son of the late Walter Baker and Joan (Wilkie) Baker.
In his younger years, Calvin worked in the woods before beginning his career inshore fishing. After moving to Lower LaHave, Calvin began working for HB Nickerson Fisheries Riverport, also known as Riverport Seafoods. Calvin worked under several captains during his years of inshore lobster fishing, including Tom Drake, Calvin Benniett, Alan Skinner, and finally Albert Drake. Calvin also spent a period of time working for George Locke and Warren Slauenwhite making scallop rakes.
Calvin will be greatly missed by his spouse, Linda Rhodenizer, Dayspring; son, Blake Baker (Krystal Veinotte), Lunenburg; sister, Beatrice; and brothers, Andrew and Vernon. Besides his parents, Calvin is predeceased by his daughter, Stephanie Baker; infant son Tyler Baker; sister Joyce; and brother Edward.
