Shirley Beatrice Lantz
74, Pinehurst, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born, May 21, 1935 in Simpsons Corner, she was a daughter of the late Lemage and Cassie “Kay” (Veinot) Ramey. She was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, where she was a past Sunday school teacher for nine years, served with the ACW and sang in the choir for a number of years. Shirley was a member of the Canadian Cancer Society, working with the New Germany unit for over 25 years, having received her gold pin. She also served on the Board of Directors for the New Germany and Area Medical Centre for 6 years; she also worked at the former Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater for a short period of time. Shirley was always willing to work and help out with any event or activity that came her way. She knew and loved many people and loved her dear family very much. Surviving are her husband, Chester Garnet, Pinehurst; daughter, Bonita Amber Lantz Carter (Glenmore), Auburndale; sons, Blair Dexter, Pinehurst; Benton Avery (Mona), New Germany; sister, Janet (Gary) Tipert, New Germany; brother, Vance (Sherry) Ramey, New Germany; several nieces and nephews. No visitation at the funeral home by request. Funeral 11 a.m., Thursday in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. Rev. Oliver Osmond officiating, assisted by Rev. Larry Ehrhardt. Private family burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, Trinity Lutheran Church or Canadian Cancer Society.
