Obituary of Gene Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Gene - Age 64, Petite Riviere, Lunenburg Co., passed away suddenly Tuesday, October 6th. Born on March 8, 1945, in Lockeport, he was the son of the late Maurice Lawrence and Rita Lawrence (Ward).

He was also predeceased by his step-mother Lottie Lawrence.

He will be greatly missed and forever be remembered by Valerie (Bent), his wife of 42 years; his son Michael, his daughter Michelle Zelaya (and her husband Orlando Zelaya), Sarah Gunn (and her husband Randy Gunn); and grandchildren Jacob and Cooper Gunn, Serena Zelaya and Alexander Gretton.

Gene graduated from Lockeport Regional High School and attended King’s College. Gene and Val lived in Bedford for many years before retiring to Petite Riviere in 2002. He was a former member of the Bedford Lions Club and the Petite Riviere Fire Department. Gene was always willing to lend a hand and to help those in need. Gene had a passion for life. He loved listening to 60's music, playing tennis, doing home renovations, walking, traveling and was an avid reader. Gene was a great storyteller with a contagious sense of humour. He made friends everywhere he went and touched all those who knew him.

A reception to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at Petite Riviere Fire Department on Wednesday, the 14th of October from 4-6 p.m.

Donations can be made to the Petite Riviere Volunteer Fire Department or charity of choice.
