Obituary of Elizabeth Mae Nicoll

Elizabeth Mae "Libby" Nicoll It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Mae Nicoll, 76 of Bridgewater, announce her passing on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Lower LaHave, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mae (Creaser) Smith. Libby graduated from Lunenburg Academy and then went to Maritime Business College in Halifax. After graduation, she worked at The Halifax Herald. In 1953, Libby married Bert Nicoll of Mira Gut, Cape Breton, and moved to Trois Rivieres, Quebec, where they lived for 11 years. In 1964, Libby and her family moved back to Nova Scotia, settling in Port Hawkesbury and then retired to Bridgewater in 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Nicoll, Halifax; son, Jim (Lorelei) Nicoll, Cole Harbour; grandchildren who loved her dearly, Matthew (Jill), Halifax; Ben and Elizabeth, Cole Harbour; sisters in law, Carol (Jim) Pinhey, St. Margarets Bay; Ethel Nicoll, Glace Bay; Anna Nicoll, Toronto; brothers in law, Bill Nicoll, Mira Gut; Ken (Marie) Nicoll, Houston; many cousins, especially, Elizabeth Fry, Windsor; Helen (David) Leslie, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. Libby was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Hubert “Bert” Nicoll. Service 2 p.m. Friday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Rev. Laurence Mawhinney officiating.
