Obituary of Robert Leaman Sarty

Robert Leaman "Bob" Sarty 87, of Middle LaHave, passed away May 31, 2009 in the Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Leaman and Christy (Weagle) Sarty. He served as a merchant marine during the Second World War and later with the Canadian Coast Guard. He enjoyed singing, dances and gardening. He was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and The Golden Youth Club (Dayspring). He is survived by his partner, Laverne Naugler; children, William “Bill” (Nancy); Warren (Ruth); Una Banfield (Orval); John (Sandy); 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey (Taylor); sister, Nellie Sarty; granddaughter, Cheryl Banfield. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday in Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Upper LaHave. Burial will follow in the Middle LaHave Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only.
