Barbara Louise Shaw
85, of Bridgewater passed away August 28, 2009 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born on February 11, 1924 in Bridgewater she was a daughter of the late George Thomas and Louise Beatrice (Sprague) Shaw. She attended Bridgewater High School, then received her First Degree at Mount Allison and worked a short time with Fisheries Research Board in St. Andrews N.B. and Ellerslie, P.E.I. After that she taught for a year at Trafalgar Girls School in Montreal. She then attended Western and received her Masters Degree in biology and taught as a teaching assistant at Western University and then in the London public school system. With the opening of Hebbville School in 1960, she went there to teach biology and from there to Parkview from where she retired. She was a well known teacher in Lunenburg County. She is survived by her brother, Stan Shaw; sister, Ruth M. Muir and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Edith Carton and brother, Dr. Bernard Shaw. In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. A private burial will take place in Mill Village Cemetery. No flowers or visitation by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
