Obituary of Bernard Andrew Smith

Bernard Andrew Smith 65, Hemford, Lunenburg Co., passed away suddenly in Halifax on April 21, 2009. Born in Hemford, he was a son of Norman Smith, New Germany and the late Verna (Wile) Smith. Bernard was a school teacher at New Germany Elementary School for 33 years; during his career he was a coach for several school sports teams. He was also a past member of the Hemford and District Fire Department and Hemford Foresters Softball Team. Surviving are his wife, Kimberly Louise (Mader) Smith; daughters, Melissa Anne (Neil) Marriott, Cayman Islands; Angela Marie (Kevin) Lohnes, Bridgewater; sons, Andrew Jason (Nicole Cook), Bridgewater; Jonathan Patrick Alan, at home; grandson, Alexander James; granddaughter, Allison Melissa; sister, Carol Smith, Pinehurst; brother, Randolph (Karen) Smith, Hemford; many nieces and nephews. No visitation at the funeral home by request. Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Rev. Catherine Robar officiating.
