Obituary of Eleanor S. Swaine-Stanley

Eleanor S Swaine-Stanley The 7:00 to 9:00 PM visitation has been canceled due to the winter storm. 82 of Dayspring, passed away peacefully Friday, January 30 2009 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax. She was a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Shand) Goreham. She was an avid gardener and in her earlier years and an active member of her local curling club. She was an outgoing, fun loving person who loved spending time with her many friends and family. She was involved in various clubs and was a member of the United Church of Canada and the Shelburne County UCW. She is dearly loved and missed by her family. She is survived by her husband Edward Stanley, brother, Rodney and numerous nieces and nephews, sons; Tom (Sharron), Fall River; Rick (Nancy), Prospect Bay; daughters; Peggy (Steven) Silver, Bridgewater; Christine (Danny) Bower, Bridgewater and Phyllis (Joe) Nickerson, Prospect Bay; step-sons; Jim (Darlene) Stanley, Gary (David) Stanley, Tim (Sherry) Stanley and Terry (Theresa) Stanley all of Ontario; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard, 6 brothers, 6 sisters and one great-grandchild Dylan. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9pm Tuesday February 3 at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Bridgewater at the corner of York Street and Phoenix Street. A memorial service will be held at the Bridgewater United Church 87 Hillcrest Street Wednesday February 4 at 2pm with Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore or charity of choice.
