Obituary of Helen Louise Veinot
Helen Louise Veinot
84, New Germany, passed away on Saturday July 25, 2009, after a short illness. Born in Lockport, August 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Winsloe and Evelyn Townsend and the foster daughter of the late Ella and Kenneth Kean. In her early years Helen worked at the Kane Family General Store and Post Office her foster parents owned and operated in Jordan bay, Nova Scotia. Later she travelled to Massachusetts and Ontario and eventually settled in Halifax working at the Halifax School for the Blind. She was then introduced to a gentleman from New Germany and after a distant courtship; she moved to New Germany in 1962 and later married. She was predeceased by he husband of 44 years, Bruce Ainslie Veinot. She is survived by her only son Glen and his wife Anne-Marie Richard; precious granddaughter Nikita, Hammonds Plains. Also surviving are her sisters Flora Townsend (Harlow) and Lilly Townsend, both of Shelburne. She was a past member of Saint John’s In the Wilderness Anglican Church. She will be remembered for her ability to reflect and remember the good old days past and her love of animals. Visitation will be 7:00 to 9:00 PM Tuesday 28 July 2009 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4859 Highway 10 New Germany. A private graveside service with family only will be held at Saint John’s In the Wilderness Anglican Cemetery, New Germany.
