Obituary of Owen Dale Wheadon

Owen Dale Wheadon 69 of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co. passed away Thursday 05 November, 2009 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Walton, Hants Co. he was the son of the late Owen and Grace (Macumber) Wheadon. Owen served in the Canadian Army during the late 50’s and early 60’s, including tours of duty overseas. He received a Certificate of Recognition for Exceptional Service in his work for the nuclear reactor cleanup in Chalk River Ontario. In his later years he worked for the Hudson Bay Company as a supervisor and vending technician. Friends may remember Owen helping his wife and daughter out at their former business in Blockhouse known as Wheadon’s Convenience. Owen always enjoyed family gatherings and had a passion for hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Mary Marcella (Peters) Wheadon; daughter Marlene (Craig) Zitto, Blockhouse; brother Bruce (Sheryl) Smith, Brooklyn N.S. and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank South Shore Regional Emergency Department and Chemo Clinic staff for the care that was given to Owen while he was a patient. Special thanks to Doctors Anthony Atkinson; Heather Robertson and Palliative Care Nurse Bonnie Sweet. Cremation has taken place and the service and burial will be at a later date.
