Margery Frances Dykeman
86, Bridgewater, passed away Thursday February 18, 2010 at the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born in Hebbville, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Fletcher and Beulah (Hebb) Hebb. She was born and educated in Bridgewater, graduated from Bridgewater High School and the O’Sullivan Business College in Bridgewater and the Kree Institute of Electrolysis, New York and studied piano for 11 years under Gladys Conrad. She was Past President of the Bridgewater Kinette Club and an active member of the Bridgewater Garden Club. Margery was an avid gardener who opened her gardens to the public each summer and gave talks on gardening to various Garden Clubs. She wrote a weekly Garden Column for the Bridgewater Bulletin since 1986 under the name “Down to Earth Gardening.” She is survived by sons, Gregory (Evelyn) Snyder, Conquerall Mills, Terry (Heather) Snyder and Geoffrey (Carol) Snyder of Bridgewater; stepdaughters, Patricia (Ron) Schneider, Sardis B.C., Karen Dykeman, Toronto, Ontario, and Cheryl Dykeman, Rothesay, N.B.; stepson Derek Dykeman, Rothesay, N.B.; sisters Doris Brett, Toronto, Ontario and Joyce Mooney, Pacifica, California; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert F. Snyder, second husband, Lloyd G. Dykeman; sister Helen Wile; brother Gerald Hebb. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 1:30 at Bridgewater United Church, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Interment will be held in the Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater at a later date. There will be no visitation by request. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Bridgewater United Church, South Shore Regional Hospital, Woodland Gardens or charity of choice.
