Frances Rosalie Fillmore
76, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 3, 2010 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with her family by her side. Born November 25, 1933 in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Laliah May (Conrad) Horne. Widowed at the age of 36, she raised six children, as a single mother. Frances worked tirelessly at a variety of jobs, including being a waitress at Pat’s (Barron’) Restaurant on King Street, as chambermaid at the Bridgewater Motor Inn and as a clerk at the Shamrock Grocery Store. She was an active member of the South Shore PC Party working as an enumerator and Deputy Returning Officer during elections. She canvassed door-to-door for many years for the Canadian Cancer Society as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Frances was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion, branch 24, Bridgewater. She is survived by her sons, Ted and Scott, both of Bridgewater; Blair (Monique), Shelburne; daughters, Joan (Brian) and Sandy (Ron), all of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Margaret Townsend, Halifax; Ricky D’appolonia, Amherst; James and Rosalyn Fillmore, Shelburne; brothers, Lewie Horne, Bridgewater; sister, Ena Conrad, Malden, Mass.; niece, Twilah Conrad, Maldon, Mass; cousin, June Manthorne, Cherry Hill. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl (Phil) in 1970; companion, Gordon Graham in 1998; daughter Charlotte D’appolonio in 2003. Frances touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of life service will be 2 pm. Tuesday, July 13 in Royal Canadian Legion, Bridgewater. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater, all are welcome to attend. Donations may be made to the Rock Church, Lower Sackville, Bridgewater Pentecostal Church, South Shore Palliative Care or the Q.E. II Hospital Foundation.
