Obituary of Maxwell James Grimm

Maxwell James Grimm 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep March 10, 2010 at Queen’s Manor, Liverpool. He was the son of Gifford and Margaret (Smith) Grimm, Springfield, N.S. His education consisted of machine training in 1940 at N.S.T.C. and continued at Dalhouise University as an Instrument Technician. He had a 31 year career in Ottawa at the National Research Council as a technician and designer in the Physics Division, where he helped design experimental equipment for the Armed Forces during the war. Later his work consisted of designing and construction of the Standard Weight Balance for Canada, standardizing surveyor’s tapes, weights & length measurers for the Dept. of Surveying and Mapping. The standard Time Clock for Canada was also a responsibility; as well he was experimenting with weight balances for the Dept. of Fisheries. He retired in 1973 to Conquerall Bank. He is survived by his wife Elva (Eichel-Eisenhauer); niece Carol Ann (Don) Jennings; great niece Jeanine (Todd) Comeau. He was predeceased by a brother John. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday 12 March in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, Rev. Eric Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to Queen’s Manor, Liverpool, the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of choice.
