Obituary of Phyllis Dorothea Joudrey

Phyllis Dorothea Joudrey 82, Upper Northfield, Lunenburg County. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Dorothea Joudrey on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Hillside Pines Home for Special Care in Bridgewater. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Born in Upper Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Winslow and Nellie (Penney) Lohnes. She was a faithful member of Upper Northfield United Church and Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Upper Northfield. In her early years she attended Commercial School in Bridgewater. After working for a short time she married Basil. They remained married for 56 years with Phyllis being active in her church and community. Friends and family will remember Phyllis for her devotion to faith, community and family. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, quilting, and her talents in the kitchen will long be remembered and cherished. During this time she and Basil raised a large family. Surviving are sons Stephen (Joan); James (Gail); all of Upper Northfield; daughters Gail (Gerald) Langille, Beaver Bank; Olive Joudrey, Bridgewater; Krystal (Curtis) Snyder, Conquerall Bank; grandchildren, Steven (Kim), Jonathan (Nadia), Sarah (Chris), Tosha (Brandon), Daniel, and Isaac; great grandchildren, Claire, Jillian, Kaitlyn, Sophie, Marco, Cameron, Jane, and Lila; sisters Helen Silver and Margery Cook; sister-in-law Hope Lohnes, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Basil, brothers Lincoln and Owen, and sister Marilyn. A special thank-you to the staff at Hillside Pines where she was a resident for the past six years. At Mom’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28 in Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Upper Northfield, Rev. William Gustafson officiating and Pastor Paul Jensen assisting. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or charity of choice.
