Obituary of Ian MacKinnon
Keith Ian MacKinnon
68, of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, died August 4, 2007, at home. Born February 12, 1939, in Liverpool, Queens County, he was the son of the late Robert Kitchener and Margaret Jean (Smiley) MacKinnon. He is survived by his wife Catherine Lynn (Aitken); two sons Craig David (Yolanda), Thunder Bay ON and Paul Kitchener (Erica), Halifax; two grandchildren David Petteri and Bianca Skye; sister Shirley Babin, Liverpool; brothers R.K. (Dorothy Anne), Liverpool and James, Lachute QC; nieces and nephews Frank Babin, Barbara Snarby, Beverley Pettersen, Becky Mason, John MacKinnon, Scott MacKinnon, Shawn MacKinnon; and several grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. Ian graduated from Acadia University in 1966, with a diploma in education and was a teacher/principal at Arcadia (Yarmouth County), Newcombville, Mahone Bay, and Hebbville (Lunenburg County), retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Bridgewater Curling Club, Olde Town Golf Club, and the Bridgewater United Church, serving on the Board of Stewards. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater. He was an avid hunter and spent many hours at his camp on Turtle Lake, West Caledonia. Cremation has already taken place. Private family interment in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Memorial service at 2:00 pm, Thursday, in the Bridgewater United Church, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. A reception to follow. No flowers by request.
