Obituary of David Joseph Laws

David Joseph Laws Of Bridgewater. It is with great sadness that the family of the late David J. Laws, announce his passing on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at his home in Bridgewater, NS. He was a son of the late David N. and Effie E. (Payzant) Laws. He was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, April 13, 1935. Dave was a marine engineer with Bowater Mersey and The Canadian Coast Guard until his retirement in 1991. He was proud to have sailed the maiden voyage with the Coast Guard Ship Alert, on which he served many years. Dave was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Son and Brother. He was the most amazing Grampie, who’s grandchildren meant the world to him. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Shirley, Bridgewater, daughters Joanne (Gerard) Beaton, Halifax, Kim (Wyatt) Morash, Pinegrove, and son Neil (Jackie) Laws, Sackville, grandchildren Brandon and Morgan Laws, Sackville, Liam and Caelin Morash, Pinegrove, and Sam and Jacob Beaton, Halifax, brother, James (Greta) Laws, Miramichi, New Brunswick, and sisters, Elizabeth Traynor, Chemlsford, Ontario, Josephine (Tom) Carey, Brookside, NS, Joan (Mike) Tilston, Ontario and Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his infant son David Arthur, brothers William and John (Jack) Laws. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 11:00am at Bridgewater Baptist Church, Rev. Eric Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
