Obituary of Eleanor Blanche Mitchell

Eleanor Blanche Mitchell 81, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 27, 2010 at South Shore Regional Hospital. Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Anzo Goulden. After completing Grade 12 and a secretarial course, she was in charge of Simpson's Order Office in Bridgewater for 5 years before transferring to Montreal early in 1953. There she married her Grade 12 sweetheart, George, and became a full time stay-at-home mother in 1955, allowing her to dedicate her time and energies to her children. Following her husband with his banking career she spent a total of 33 years in Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton and New York. Returning to Bridgewater in 1985 through retirement, she became very active in her Church and became a devoted "Palliative Care" volunteer for 8 years and "Red Coat" volunteer for 15 years at the South Shore Regional Hospital. Furthermore, she was an avid curler and loved the game of golf for many years. She is survived by her husband, George; children Kathryn (John) Prall, New Jersey; Patrice, Montreal; and Anne Marie (Robert) Hall, Montreal; sisters Norma Doane, Martha Ramey, Joan (Douglas) Oickle, Bridgewater, brother Kenneth (Judy) Goulden, Charlottetown; grandchildren Kim, Kyle, New Jersey; Elyse, Ryan, Kelly, Alex, Montreal. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 29th from 7 - 9 PM. A memorial service will be held in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater on Friday, July 30th at 2 PM with a reception to follow in the Parish Church Hall. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
