Obituary of Helena May Routledge

Helena May (Pernette) Routledge It is with great sadness, that we mourn the loss of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2010 in Arbourstone Extended Care Facility, Armdale with family by her side. Born April 6 1917 in West LaHave, she was a daughter of the late Josiah and Winnie (Richards) Pernette. Helena began her education in Halifax at the Maritime Business Academy, obtaining her degree in stenography where she then worked for Eastern Air Command. After meeting the love of her life, Tom, she became a devoted wife and mother. Surviving are her son, Reagh (Betty), Lower Sackville; grandsons, Troy (Grace); Trevor (Shannon), all of Halifax; great grandsons, Kyle, Kristopher, both of Halifax; sister, Yvonne Haughn, West LaHave; brother, Donald Pernette, West LaHave; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom Routledge; son, John; sisters, Catherine, Avernia; brothers, Harry, John and Percy. Visitation, 11 a.m. Thursday, January 7 in West Side United Church, Pentz with funeral at 1 p.m. Rev. Neil McEwen officiating. Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Pentz. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
