Obituary of Helen Marguerite Silver

Helen Marguerite Silver 83, Upper Northfield, Lunenburg County. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Silver on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Mahone Bay Nursing Home in Mahone Bay. Born in Upper Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Winslow and Nellie (Penney) Lohnes. Helen was an avid community volunteer, a long time member of the United Women Sewing Circle and the Women’s Institute of Canada. She loved to take long drives in the country, spending time with her family and she was famous for her homemade quilts and knitting crafts. Surviving are daughters, Elaine Joudrey, Joan (Charles) Smith; sons, Ronnie, Donnie (Pat); sister, Margery Cook; grandchildren, Rodney (Shawna), Lisa (Owen), Melanie (Darren), Jennifer (Dave), Scott (Laine), Kirk and Kim; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband Harold Silver; son-in-law Calvin Joudrey; daughter-in-law Carolyn Silver; sisters Phyllis and Marilyn (in infancy), brothers Lincoln and Owen Lohnes; and grandson Cameron Smith. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Friday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and where service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010. Rev. William Gustafson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Upper Northfield. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
