Obituary of Norman Amos Teal
Norman Amos Teal
77, LaHave, passed away peacefully Friday January 8th, 2010 after a short courageous battle with cancer. Born in Broad Cove on December 29, 1932 he was the son of the late Whitman and Gertrude (Conrad) Teal. Norman in his earlier years sailed on the Lake Boats, followed by a number of years as a Volkswagon repair/bodyman at Fairview Body Shop. Norman finished his working career at Air Canada retiring in 1991. His retirement included making lobster paper weights gaining him the distinction “The Lobster Man”. Having a gentle personality he was known for his aggressive card playing. Norman was also an avid gardener and hunter. Norman was always available to people in the community to lend a helping hand and as he travelled from La Have to Bridgewater and surrounding communities he was always accompanied by his cat “Cleo”. In his earlier days he was a volunteer Fireman in Fairview and later continued his involvement as an Auxiliary Member of the La Have Fire Department. Norman was an associate member of Branch 24 the Royal Canadian Legion, Bridgewater; a member of the Air Canada Pioneers and the New Dublin Golden Pioneers Senior Citizens Club. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years Margaret Ann (Wilkie). Norman was a wonderful father to his children Michele (Murdoch) Beaton, Hammonds Plains; Carole Ann (Stephen) Noade, Mt. Uniacke; Jeffrey, Halifax. He had a special bond with his grandchildren James, Adam and Bryanna Noade; Haley and Cameron Beaton. Norman is also survived by his sister Glenda Borowski, Bridgewater; brother Earl (Nina), Dublin Shore. He was predeceased by his brother Mark, Sault Ste. Marie. Visitation will be at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater at 1:00 pm Wednesday January 13th followed immediately by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm to be conducted by Rev. Neil MacDonald. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only. of Norman memorial donations may be made to South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation, La Have Fire Department, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
