Obituary of Royce Allen Waterman
Royce Allen Waterman
68, Bridgewater, formerly of Pleasant River, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater after his lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Raymond and Sylvia (Trethewey) Waterman. As a young man, Royce moved to Westborough, MA, married and had three children. He worked for Bay State Abrasives for over 9 years. The family then moved back to Nova Scotia to expand his mother’s bakery business called Sylvia’s Bakery. After a number of years, he went back to school and completed his education. He then worked for Michelin Tires (Canada), Bridgewater plant for a number of years, when he realized his dream of developing his own Christmas tree farm, called Riverview Tree Farms; he also drove school bus for many years. His interests included house renovating, camping and silviculture. He loved the outdoors especially driving around the woods with his 4-wheeler. He was an active member of Trinity United Church, Pleasant River. Surviving are his wife, the former Maxine Hirtle; daughters, Judy Fancy, Pleasant River; Joyce Herman (Kathy Parks), Kentville; step daughter, Wendy (Vincent) Wamboldt, Northfield; sons, Ray (Sandi) Waterman, Bridgewater; step son, James (Melissa) Lohnes, Bridgewater; sister, Bonnie (Ken) Oickle, Newburne; half brother, Earl (Dawn) Trethewey, Halifax; brother in law, Nelson Ramey, Maplewood; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Mary Ramey and Evelyn in infancy; beloved dog, Sheba. No visitation at the funeral home by request. Service 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in Trinity United Church, Pleasant River. Rev. Tom Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Pleasant River. Family flowers only, donations to Trinity United Church, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
