Obituary of Pauline Oickle

Pauline Jean Oickle Of Green Bay. Born January 2, 1917, Pauline passed away peacefully November 8, 2007 in Hillside Pines Home For Special Care, Bridgewater. The daughter of the late J. Irving and Amy Ethel Hebb, Pauline was a member of the first graduating class of Bridgewater High School. She then attended Acadia University for one year until she was old enough to enter nursing training at the Montreal General Hospital, where she graduated as an RN. Pauline became the wife of the late Murray L. Oickle in 1942. She is survived by her daughter Karen and son-in-law Bill Pollard. She was “Mammy” to her four grandchildren Katrina MacIntosh (Malcolm) of Deering N.H.; Krista Pollard (Scott Herman) of Green Bay; Matthew Pollard (Shanna Nodding) of Toronto; Michael Pollard (Sarah Clarke) of Invermere, B.C. and great grandson Jordon MacIntosh of Derring N.H. She was very involved in all stages of her grandchildren’s lives and much loved by them all. Her family were her loves, but her passion was antiques. “Mrs. Oickles’ Antique Shop” was a well known destination spot, both in Bridgewater and Green Bay, for over 40 years. Generations of customers and friends enjoyed Murray and Pauline’s bargains. Her only complaint while at Hillside Pines was that she was unable to attend any auctions where she always sat in the front row with her card #1. Pauline will be greatly missed by her immediate and extended families and many friends near and far. The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all of the staff at Hillside Pines Home For Special Care, for the loving care and kindness you always extended to her and the family. Each and everyone of you, are very special people. Cremation has taken place through Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. In keeping with Pauline’s wishes, there will be no service. Memorial donations may be sent to the N.S Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada – Maritime Region, 5475 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, N.S., B3J 3T2. Online condolences may be made to www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
