Obituary of Douglas Franklin Crowell

Douglas Franklin Crowell 90, of Bridgewater passed away on Wednesday 16 March 2011 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.Born in Barrington he was the son of the late Delma and Catherine (Spinney) Crowell. Douglas was a WW2 veteran having served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment, 23 Field Ambulance overseas from 1939 to 1945. He resided in Barrington as Post Master for several years, moved to Middleton he working with metropolitan Life there and in Yarmouth & Bridgewater. In later years he was employed with Central Trust as a Real estate Agent, a job he truly enjoyed. Douglas loved people and in the past six years of his life had many good times playing cards & visiting with his friends at the apartment building where he lived. His greatest joy was his family. He loved family get togethers and was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Linda (Larry) Adams, Bridgewater; Delma (Carol) Crowell, New Minas; grandchildren Shelley (Chris) Mosher; Shawn (Mary) Adams; Ryan (Anne) Adams; Todd Crowell; Jillian Crowell; great-grandchildren Thomas Mosher; Nicholas Mosher; Reese Adams along with several nieces and nephews. Douglas was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Nellie; sister Bernice Brown and brother Victor Crowell. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday 21 March in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Ron Appleton officiating, assisted by Eucharist Minister Vernon Mossman. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Barrington at a later date. No flowers by request, memorial donations in his memory may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore.
