Obituary of Gilbert Schnare

Gilbert John Schnare 89, of Bridgewater passed away April 2, 2001 in the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in Blue Rocks, he was a son of the late Elsworth and Corinda ( Tanner ) Schnare. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a veteran of the second world war , having served overseas with the 8 CDN. LAA. BTY. RCA. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Haines, Bridgewater; 2 daughters, Linda (Brian) Grennan, Upper Sackville; Peggy Ann (Ronald) Chase, Barss Corner; a son Sandy (Gwen) Schnare, Barss Corner; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Wallace and Robert; a sister Lottie Daniels and a sister at an early age. A memorial service will be held 11am Friday in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Unit of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg , the Salvation Army or the Last Post Fund. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request.
