Joan Madeleine Dolliver
Of Bridgewater, formerly of Dublin Shore. With her family by her side, Joan Madeleine Dolliver, nee Price, passed away Monday August 8, 2011 at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. She was born on February 15, 1919 in Birmingham England. Joan was an accomplished multi-sport athlete and a member of the British army core in WWII. She was a war bride who arrived in Canada in 1949 through Pier 21. She was an accomplished seamstress, homemaker and mother as well as a strong supporter of St. James Anglican Church Ladies Guild. She is survived by daughter, Joan Wells and husband Joe of Bedford, N.S.; daughter, Jane Banek and husband Harvey of Oxford Mills; and son Eric and wife Martha of Blockhouse; her loving grandchildren, Janet (Wells) Roy, JoAnne (Wells) Small, Elizabeth Dolliver, Marcus Dolliver, and many pets. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald (Bunch) Dolliver, 14 brothers and sisters, and parents. Visitation will be held Wednesday August 10 from 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and from where memorial service will be held 2pm Thursday August 11, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Private family burial will follow in Fort Point Cemetery, LaHave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Arthritis Society. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of South Shore Regional Hospital and the Arthur Patterson unit of Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital as well as Drs. Marier and Zwicker.
