Paul Eugene Falt
89, of Petite Riviere Lunenburg Co., passed away Saturday April 2, 2011in the Veterans Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Petite Riviere, he was a son of the late John and Hazel (Sperry) Falt. Paul was a veteran of the Second World War having served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Italy, France and Germany. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, Bridgewater. After the war he was employed with Acadia construction and enjoyed his role as superintendant until the time of his retirement. He was also a long time member of the Petite Riviere volunteer fire department and the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Petite Riviere. Paul is survived by his son, John Falt, Halifax; brother, Phillip (Fern) Falt, USA; granddaughter, Christina (Christopher) Welsh, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew and Zachary Welsh, Halifax; and companion Kathleen Keane. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian; son, Brian; grandchildren, Craig and Gordon and brother Rex. Visitation will be held Wednesday 7 – 9 p.m., with a public legion tribute service at 7 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Vivian Moore officiating, private burial. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the heart and Stroke foundation or the charity of choice. Sincere thanks to Dr. John Jenkins and all of the wonderful nursing staff at the Fishermen’s veterans unit for all their sincere kindness and compassion with Paul in the last 5 years.
