Obituary of Carrol Patrick Gaul

Carrol Patrick Gaul 100, West Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2011 in Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Bridgewater. Born February 18, 1910 in Dalhousie Road, King Co., he was the second son of the late Thaddeus and Norine (DeAdder) Gaul. Later his parents moved the family to Crossburn, Lunenburg Co., one of Carrol’s favorite places. He started work when he was only 14. His first job was at Berwick Cooperage Company and at a mill in Cherryfield, he also picked apples at Joe Lonergan’s in the fall. He purchased his first truck in 1936 at age 26. This provided him with a truck to haul logs for later employment at the Mersey Company in Milton. Carrol was blessed with a natural ability to repair vehicles, thus later became an auto mechanic and built his first garage in East Dalhousie. In later years, he built a home and garage in West Northfield, where he lived with his family the rest of his years. His love of music especially for Hank Snow, lead him to write a poem for him and sent it to Hank, who responded later with a letter of thanks to Carrol. As he returns to the arms of God he will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Surviving are his daughter, Carol Anne, Bridgetown ARC; son, Patrick (Betty), Conquerall Mills; grandson, Ryan (Rachel); great granddaughter, Madison, West Northfield; sister, LaVerne Meister, New Ross; sister in law, Bertha Gaul, North Alton; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Muriel; infant son, James; brothers and their wives, Curtis (Mabel), Joseph (Louie), Phil (Phyllis), Francis; sisters, Luitzard, Phyllis (Colin); brother in law, Harold Meister. Visitation 7 – 9 p.m., Tuesday (today) in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
