Douglas Timothy Morton
82 passed away on April 21 at the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, N.S. Born July 11, 1928, he was the only child of the late Timothy and Effie (Whynot) Morton. Douglas lived and worked all his life on the family farm. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, one of the early members of the Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Association and the Nova Scotia Egg Marketing Board. He was the New Germany United Church Pastoral Charge Treasurer for over 30 years and caretaker of the Indian Brook Cemetery for more than 50 years. In his youth, he was a member of the New Germany and Area Marching Band. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Clare (Feener); daughters, Jane (Andrew) Blackburn, Clifton N.S. and Susan (Michael) Beamish, Shad Bay N.S.; granddaughter, Gillian Blackburn; grandsons, Ian, Matthew and Jacob Beamish. Thanks to the Halifax chapter of the VON, the staff of Drummon Hall, Halifax N.S., Rosedale Home for Special Care and many thanks to friends and family who supported us in Dad’s last years. A Masonic service will be held 2:00 PM Monday in Epworth United Church, New Germany followed by a memorial service commemorating Douglas’s life with Rev. Dale Gray officiating and Rev. Lester Settle assisting. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Indian Brook Cemetery, Epworth United Church, Parkinson’s Foundation or a charity of your choice.
