Obituary of Marion Rgodenizer

Marion Kathleen Rhodenizer 89, Upper LaHave and Kentville, passed away on May 30, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born at Beach Hill, Upper LaHave in a home overlooking Mulocks Cove on December 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo William and Cora Mae (Burns) Rafuse. Marion was the beloved mother of son, Keith. She was a graduate nurse from the Grace Maternity Hospital, Halifax; she worked at the Met part time, took a night school course in secretarial and then worked for Dr. Morris as a secretary and receptionist, until he moved his practice to Dartmouth. Marion then gained employment with the Adult Residential Center in Dayspring, later known as the LaHave Manor. She worked there for 18 continuous years, most as night supervisor. Upon her retirement, a wine and cheese party was held at the home of Mrs. Robert Gillingham where she was presented with a gold chain. A party in her honor was given by Ms. Joy Whynot at her home in Conquerall Mills, where here she was presented with a gold charm. On April 1, 1987, Marion moved to Kentville, to be near her son, Keith and his wife Edie, and grandchildren, Sonya Marie (George Penney), Kingston and Bradley (Jen), Dartmouth. She loved her grandchildren and her three great grandchildren, Kyle, Connor and Michaela. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Elizabeth, who died at the age of 19, an irreplaceable companion. She made a large circle of friend while living in Kentville, mostly at the New Minas Tim Horton’s. She also appreciated the acts of kindness by Tom and Mabel Mappleback, Wilda Ward and Allison Brown. No visitation at the funeral home by request. A private family service will take place. Rev. Doug Chard officiating. Family flowers only, donations made be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia. A special thank you to the staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care for their kindness and first name relationship with my mother.
