Leah Eleanor Randall
94, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully after a brief struggle with cancer and respiratory illness on August 18, 2011, at QE II Hospital with her children by her side. Leah was born in Pleasantville, N.S., the daughter of William and Ester Sarty. Leah’s passion was her family and she instilled in her four children the importance of love, caring and respect. A remarkable homemaker, Leah enjoyed, baking, knitting and playing “45’s”. She delighted in making her garden and backyard a place of beauty and serenity. With the help of Homecare staff and VON nurses, she continued to live independently right up to the time of her hospitalization. Leah is survived by her four children Diane MacDonald, Kathy Randall (Howard), Bruce Randall (Kathy), and Terry Randall. She is also survived by five grandchildren Colin MacDonald, Christine Miranda (Tony), Jessalyn Randall, Jordy Randall (Michelle) and Paige Randall; two sisters, Geneva and Aileen. Leah was the proud great grandmother of 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Melbourne, 4 sisters- Viola, Grace, Reta and Florence and one brother, Willard. Visitation is on Monday, August 22 at 7 – 9 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Home in Bridgewater. The funeral service will take place at 11 am Tuesday in the United Church in Bridgewater at 87 Hillcrest St., officiated by Rev. Ivan Norton. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to Lunenburg County Home Support Services or the Canadian Cancer Society. Leah will be sorely missed by all.
