Obituary of Marjorie Ann Theakston
Marjorie Ann (Garrison) Theakston
73, of Bridgewater, died peacefully July 1st in the arms of her family at the South Shore Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Evelyn Garrison. Marge was a community leader integral in establishing the Spring Fling fundraiser for the Dawson Memorial Hospital, and also sat on the Board of the South Shore Regional Hospital during its construction. She was one of the founders of The Pudding Factory in support of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She was on the Board of the Nova Scotia Sports Heritage Foundation, and Chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission for the Town of Bridgewater. She is predeceased by daughter, Joanne Marie (shortly after birth), and brothers Graham, Jack, and Chuck; and survived by loving husband David "Nip", daughters Nancie Theakston Phipps (Don Veinish) of Bedford, Heather Moffett (Keith) of Toronto; adoring grandchildren Aiden, Seth, David and Olivia; sisters Barbara Kirby of Toronto, Dale Wentzell of Pleasantville, Nancy Guptil (Gregg) of Summerside, Judy de Decker ( Fred) of Pentz, Bev Conrod (David) of Dartmouth, Peggy Grant (Rick) of Dartmouth, and Debbie Daiken (Joe) of Trenton, ON; and brother Harold (Janet) of Halifax; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Thanks to all who were so supportive during her illness. Funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, July 5th, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater. No visitation. Family flowers only. Donations to The Aplastic Anemia & Myelodysplasia Association of Canada, or South Shore Regional Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
