Obituary of John Everette Wentzell
WENTZELL, John Everette Wentzell - Age 65, of Bridgewater. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather John, who passed away suddenly at home on January 7, 2011. John was born in Bridgewater to Harry and Maude (Weagle) Wentzell.
John made a life in Bridgewater after attending Bridgewater High School never staying too far from his family roots. His schooling took him to Cape Breton for his formal trade training. John made a career in the automotive industry holding licenses in Heavy Duty, Bus and Transport and Automotive Mechanics until illness forced an early retirement. John worked in several local automotive and heavy equipment dealerships throughout Nova Scotia and in his last years he was employed with the South Shore Regional School Board as a bus driver and a Bus and Transport Mechanic. Johnny joined the Bridgewater Fire Department on July 12, 1976. He held the positions of Lt. E3, Capt E3, Capt E1 and retired as Deputy Chief on January 7, 2002. He was very active within the fire service with a calm demeanor and a good knowledge base on the fire ground that was a prerequisite of a respected leader.
John leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Sharon (Hirtle); sons, Andrew (Kelly); Kirk (Amanda); grandchildren, Kristen, Kaitlyn, Katie, and Brandon; sister, Lillian (Clyde) Boyd.
In keeping with my husbands and our father’s wishes, a public graveside service will be held 11am Tuesday January 11 in the Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater, Rev Paul Jensen officiating. No flowers or visitation by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Shaid Animal Shelter, Bridgewater Fire Department or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
You will be truly missed for your insightful wisdom, humor, honesty, integrity and strong sense of family pride. Love you Forever, your family.
