Obituary of Percy Lee Bruhm
Percy Lee "Bubba" Bruhm
86 of Bridgewater passed away December 25 in the South Shore Regional Hospital from a short illness with cancer. Percy was born in West Northfield on August 21st 1926 and was the son of the late Angus and Alma (Woodworth) Bruhm. He is survived by his wife, of 54 years of marriage, Myrna (nee Zwicker); children Donald; Dale (Ruth Brown); Donna (Greg) Knox; Doreen (Vaughn Robar) McCarthy; grandchildren Grace, Carly, Jenna, Ryan and Laura; siblings Grace Zwicker; Ola Whynot; Shirley (Lewis) Tanner and Randolph (Barbara). Percy was predeceased by siblings Hilda Veinot, Gerald Bruhm; Phyllis Corkum, Freda Whynot, Pearl Trethewey, Warren, Vivian and Betty; daughter-in-law Johanna (Levy); brothers-in-law Robert Zwicker; Frank Whynot; Joe Veinot; Doran Corkum; Malcolm Whynot; Harry Trethewey; sister-in-law Phyllis Bruhm, He started his career in sales and delivery with various companies along the South Shore, an A1 welder with high pressure pipes at the Halifax Shipyards, where he was known as “seagull”. Percy was also a meat cutter at various stores in the Bridgewater area, a bus driver for the South Shore Regional School Board and was a self-employed meat cutting business at his home. Percy was an avid fisherman, who always lived close to the LaHave River, and hunter. He loved his fishing and trips to Newfoundland as well as his special farm in Branch LaHave. He loved to share his acquired words of wisdom with any and all. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.F. Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday 29 December in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. A private family interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Percy’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the charity of choice.
