Obituary of Shirley Elizabeth Campbell

Shirley Elizabeth Campbell 82, of Bridgewater passed away at Ryan Hall on Wednesday November 14, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Ellen (Manthorne) Penny and Maurice Penny. After the death of her mother when Shirley was 4, she was raised by her grandparents, the late Lawson and Alberta Manthorne. Her deceased aunt and uncles, Phyllis (Manthorne) Arenburg and Harry and Ralph Manthorne, were more like siblings and meant the world to Shirley. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Duncan A. Campbell, and is survived by her children and grandchildren: James (Hope) Campbell (Derek, Kevin, Paul) Conquerall Mills; Susan (Glendon) Oickle (Matthew), Bridgewater; Mary (Gary) Rhodenizer (Michael, Steven, Lisa) Cole Harbour; John (Patty) Campbell (Jonathan, Jillian) Dartmouth; Belinda (Ron) Nogler (Emily, Laura); Pleasantville, Theresa (Brian) Richards (Colin, Tyler), Pleasantville; and Elizabeth Campbell Grant (Russ) U.K. She is also survived by 2 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers-in-law Dr. Donald Robert Campbell, Fergusons Cove and Dr. John H. Campbell, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Shirley is now resting at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. At Shirley’s request there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday November 19, 2012 from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Pleasant St., Bridgewater. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater where Shirley will be laid to rest next to her mother at Shirley’s request. The family wishes to thank the carrying staff of Ryan Hall, Dr. Greg Jansen, Nurse Practioner Laurie Giffin and Beth Wilson for their exceptional care and devotion to our Mother. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, South Shore Regional Hospital or charity of choice.
