Gary "Coop" Cooper
63 Bridgewater passed away October 24 2012 in Halifax. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Charles and Marjorie (Selig) Cooper. Gary was retired from BMI Ltd in Oakhill, as a contract worker at Michelin Tire in Bridgewater. As a teenager Gary worked beside his father at Thomas Walter &Son Blacksmith Shop, Lunenburg. Gary also worked at Deep Sea Trawlers for several years before joining BMI Ltd. Gary was a wonderful hockey player. Gary also was an avid golfer, and always enjoyed getting out on the golf courses with his golfing friends. Gary is survived by his wife Margie (Shortliffe), daughter Tracey, step-daughter Caila (Jason) Russell, Conquerall Bank. Step-son Sean Dockrill, Bridgewater. Sister Joan Chevere, Victoria BC, brothers; Reggie, Robert, Jerry, Gilbert, and George, Step-grandchildren, Jordan Dockrill, Dartmouth, Ethan Russell, Conquerall Bank. Many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by brothers John and Frankie, a niece Donna. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Thursday November 1 2012 in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, with Rev. Robert Zinck officiating. No visitation at the funeral home by family request. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of NS, Canadian Liver Foundation of NS, or charity of choice.
