Obituary of Gordon Emerson Romkey

Gordon Emerson Romkey III 63, Crescent Beach, Lunenburg County, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at home. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Shirley (Crosby) Romkey and the late Gordon Romkey Jr. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Imperial Oil Refinery, Dartmouth for 32 years. He was a 25 year volunteer with the Eastern Passage Fire Department. He and his family operated the Crescent Beach General Store. He was a past High Priest and Chaplain of LaHave Chapter #17, R.A.M., Past Grand Master of Third Veil, Grand Chapter; past Master of Acacia Lodge # 39 A.F. & A.M., Bridgewater. Gordie will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his kind heart. Surviving are his wife the former Cheryl Wilson; daughter, Charmaine (Wayne Mosher), Dublin Shore; sons, James (Bonnie), St. George, Utah; Raymond, West Dublin; grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew and Michael Mosher, Brennan and Mariah Larsen; sister, Sheila (Neil) Chambers, Crescent Beach; special aunt, Frances Romkey, Crescent Beach; niece, Jennifer (Brian) Ste. Croix; nephew, Thomas (Jodi) Chambers; several great nieces and nephews. No visitation at the funeral home by request, family will be receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 in the West Dublin Hall. A private family graveside service will be held in the Romkey Family Cemetery, Crescent Beach, at a later date. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society - Relay for Life or The Lodge that Gives, South Shore Palliative Care Services, or charity of choice.
