Obituary of Arnold Wellington Crouse

Arnold Wellington Crouse 95, of Cherry Hill, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, Saturday, January 21, 2012. Born in Voglers Cove, he was the only child of the late Lionel and Laura (Wamboldt) Crouse. The family moved to Cherry Hill when Arnold was 17 and he has resided in the same home ever since. In his early years he picked apples in the Annapolis Valley and worked in lumber camps in Lunenburg and Queens Counties. He then settled down to mixed farming and took great pride in his animals, gardens and flowers. Arnold was a kind and gentle man who cherished the time he spent with his family. He is survived by three children, Elizabeth (Robert) Smith, Reta Mae (Bruce) Hayes and Spurgeon (Elizabeth) Crouse; seven grandchildren, Gail, Grant, Glenda, Stacey, Melissa, Sonja and Marc and their families which includes twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion Mildred Dollivar. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia (Conrad). Visitation will be held, 2-4 and 7-9, Thursday January 26, 2012 at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 60 Phoenix, Bridgewater, where a funeral service will be held Friday, January 27, 2012, at 11:00am, Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Cherry Hill, immediately following. Immediate family flowers only.
