Obituary of Eric George Crouse

Eric George Crouse Age 90 of Lapland, passed away peacefully September 13, 2012 at Harbour View Haven in Lunenburg. Eric was born June 23, 1922 in Lapland to George and Viola (Bolivar) Crouse. His first job away from the farm was with MacKenzie Bus Line. It was during this time that he developed his fondness for Peggy’s Cove and when he met his future wife, Viola Gibbons. He later worked for Cook’s Oil doing fuel deliveries, then as a burner technician for Irving Oil. Eric’s love of the woods brought him to the survey crew of Errol Hebb. Throughout his life Eric was an avid photographer. Any spare time and then retirement years were spent where he was most content, in his gardens or in the woods at Lapland. Eric is survived by his wife, Viola (Gibbons) and his four daughters; Ingrid Crouse (Alan Nowe) of Lunenburg, Gretchen Peveril (Alan) of Lapland, Bridgit Bell (Peter) of Halifax and Viki Crouse of Bridgewater. He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Jason Crouse, Kyle Arsenault, Amy, Lisa and Rachel Peveril, Jennifer and Parker Bell. Surviving also are Eric’s younger sisters; Vallie Horne of Fredericton and Shirley Anderson (Glen) of Halifax. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday 16 September in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Deborah Thompson officiating. A private family burial will follow in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Lapland. Family flowers only, please. Memorials donations in Eric’s memory may be made to the Lapland Cemetery Society, Harbour View Haven or the charity of choice. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
