Obituary of Vernon Forman Garber

Vernon Forman Garber 84. It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father of five. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. His strength and determination will live on in his children and grandchildren. Always a hard worker he was known by many as a mechanic, truck driver, delivering various goods and proud of his ability to run heavy machinery such as cranes and boom trucks. In later years, he kept many households warm delivering heating oil in all kinds of weather. He also enjoyed, fishing, bowling, playing auction 45’s and was often seen in his favorite “old” truck. His green thumb always produced tasty vegetables which he shared along with his beautiful framed paintings. His great spirit and sense of humor will be remembered; he will be missed by all those who loved him. Surviving are his devoted wife of 62 years, Lucille (Nelson); daughters, Shirley (Talbot), New Jersey; Betty Gow, Veronica Conrad; sons, Robert, Alan, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Gloria (Silver) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Forman and Gertrude (Veinot) Garber; brothers, Loren, Merlin, Wennis Garber. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater with Pastor Paul Jensen officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only please, donations may be made to South Shore Regional Hospital Palliative Care or VON.
