Passed away peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital January 5, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Halifax on October 29, 1948, Ken was the son of Joyce Heisler Townsend (Blackwood) and the late Gerald Kenneth Heisler. Ken spent many years working in the banking industry (CIBC and FBDB). In 1986 he started his own Pizza Delight franchise in Lower Sackville, which he operated for twenty years. He then went on to work in Las Vegas, Nevada where he never tired of receiving company and showing them the sights. Ken will be deeply missed by his mother Joyce, wife Dawn (Snow) , daughter Carrie Rand (Wesley) Kentville; son Craig, Calgary; stepchildren, Amy, Beth and Mark Hatcher, sister Patricia Heisler Martinez (Jorge), Fayetteville, North Carolina; brothers Glen (Dora) and Ronald (Dale), Bridgewater. He will also be deeply missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Nothing was more important to Ken then his family. Ken had a special place in his heart for his dog Anjou, who travelled extensively with Ken and Dawn on their many journeys. Ken was past Master of St. Andrew’s Lodge #1 Halifax. Faith was important to Ken, and he actively attended Bridgewater United church. Ken enjoyed life to the fullest, loved travelling, and was a classic car fanatic (he was a member of the Coastal Cruisers of Bridgewater). He was a great friend to anyone in need and never met anyone that he didn’t immediately start sharing stories with. Ken was a truly amazing man.
