Obituary of Forde Chapin Himmelman

Forde Chapin Himmelman 88, LaHave, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2012 in Shoreham Village, Chester. Born in LaHave in 1923, he was the son of the late Eben and Leona (Lawlor) Himmelman. Forde was an employee of Air Canada for 28 years. In his earlier years, he sailed on deep sea tankers, with Shell Oil out of Portland, Maine, which serviced South American countries for approximately 10 years. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 24, Bridgewater. Forde is survived by step-daughter, Annette (Ross) Little, Oxford; nieces, Angela (Terrance) Cormier, St. John; Donna (David) Swatridge, Ingersoll, Ont.; Julia (Kevin) Arenburg, Brooklyn, Hants Co., Elizabeth McNally, Halifax; Carolyn McNally, Lantz; nephew, Andrew McNally, Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Brenda (Hiltz) Himmelman; brothers, Rhodes Himmelman and Byron Himmelman. A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 1 in West Side United Church, Pentz. Rev. Neil McEwen officiating. Family flowers only please.
