Obituary of Donald Roy Joudrey

Donald Roy Joudrey 77, of Bridgewater passed away Saturday April 14, 2012 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Geraldine Joudrey. Donald was an athlete in his youth; he boxed and was a fastball player with the Top’sl Tavern Schooners. He also loved hunting, fishing and camping with Anne. Donald was employed with Eastern Bakeries until an accident forced him to retire in the late 1990’s. He could always be seen delivering fresh bread and treats to all the stores in Bridgewater. Besides his wife and children, Donald’s greatest love was his grandchildren. He had to check on them daily, needing to know what they were up to and where they were going. Donald spent his entire life in Bridgewater with the exception of the last year and a half at Harbour View Haven. He grew to know this as his home and could always be counted on to crack a joke and keep the staff and residents laughing. He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Scott) Rankin Bridgewater; sons Barry (Cheryl) Joudrey, Chelsea; Brad (Deb Cameron) Joudrey, Bridgewater; sisters Marilyn (Ned) Reid, Middlefield and Koreen Whalen, Bridgewater; brothers Douglas (Marilyn) Oickle, Auburndale; Eric (Mary) Oickle, Bridgewater; grandchildren Dacia, Kelsey and Sara along with several nieces and nephew. Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife Ann Griffin; sister, Betty Whynot; brother, Sonny and special uncle Dougald Joudrey and grandchild Mariel Cameron Joudrey. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday 28 May in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Bridgewater, Fr. Joe Christensen officiating.
