Clayton Woodrow Sarty
94, Pleasantville, passed away peacefully at Shoreham Village, Chester on May 26, 2007 after a period of ill health. Born in Pleasantville, December 2, 1912 to the late Jacob and Miriam (Corkum) Sarty, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Clayton worked ten years at Eddie Weagle’s Service Station and 25 years for Acadia Gas Engines in Bridgewater. He retired in 1977 after five years driving a school bus to Pentz and Hebbville schools. He was a founding member of the Pleasantville Fire Department. Clayton enjoyed watching baseball and hockey games on TV and “puttering” around his property, which was always kept immaculate. He is survived by daughter Patricia (Franklin) d’Entremont, Brookside, NS; two grand children, Marc (Adriana Hess), Halifax and Nicole, Brookside; sisters-in-law Pauline Joudrey, Sheila Joudrey and Shirlee Pidgeon, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Pauline (Joudrey) in 2003; sister Dorothy Penney, brothers Ruey, Wingate, Bernard, Arnold, and Gerald. Memorial service will be held 11am Wednesday from Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Private family internment will be in Pleasantville Cemetery. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation, Pleasantville Fire Department or charity of your choice. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request.
