Obituary of Chester Garnet Lantz

Chester Garnet Lantz 85, Pinehurst, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in New Germany, he was a son of the late Avery Seaward and Bessie Edna (Veinotte) Lantz. In his younger years, Chester was the movie projector operator for A.A. Fielding’s Theater, New Germany. Later, he began working as a truck driver with Zwicker Brothers Mill until the early 1950’s when he became owner and operator of West End Esso, New Germany until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the former New Germany Band. Chester was a 59 year member of the New Germany Volunteer Fire Department, as an engineer. He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany where he sang in the church choir. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his daughter, Bonita (Glenmore) Carter, Auburndale; sons, Blair Lantz, Pinehurst; Benton (Mona) Lantz, New Germany; sister in law, Charlotte Lantz, New Germany; brother in law, George Zwicker, New Germany; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Shirley Beatrice Ramey; sister, Evelyn Annetta Zwicker; brothers, Mervin in infancy, Clinton Eugene Calvin “Bub” Lantz. No visitation at the funeral home by request. Service 11 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany. Rev. David Whynot officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations may be made to New Germany Volunteer Fire Department or charity of choice.
