Donna, we are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Jim was a loving husband and father, and for us, you two best neighbours ever. When we first moved in next to you 20 years ago we were almost immediately friends more than neighbours. On my many trips away with work, it was a relief knowing that you and Jim always kept an eye out for Mary and anything she might need. And I can honestly say that we will forever treasure those great evenings of wine & conversation overlooking Black Duck Lake.
Sending our condolences to you and your family.
Love,
Mary & Doug Watt

Donna,
My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I was shocked to hear of his passing. Some of my fondest memories living if Fall River, as your neighbour, was spending time in the woods cutting and burning. I truly enjoyed my time with Jim. He was a good person and friend. He always had time to stop and chat. He will be missed

Jim was a good man.
I retired from the military in 2016, and without concerns about things like PTSD or other myths that "all" veterans suffer from, he took me into his construction business. He based that decision on his assessment of me as a person. which is how he treated everyone. As an individual.
He taught me a lot. I never realized someone could walk around a job and give an estimate that would only be 3% off actual cost when worked out in detail. I made it a challenge to record his rough estimate then compare it to the complete cost breakdown when we were done. He was flawless.
He was proud of his time working with the navy as a civilian in Base Construction and Engineering in the 80's.
He also had a vicious wit. Fortunately my time in the navy taught me how to dish it back. :D
My condolences to his family and friends.

Donna and Family!
I’m am so sorry for your loss!
A few years ago, my son Nicholas and I went to visit Jim and Donna. My son was in a stalemate on what he wanted to do in his life. He just finished a year of University, taking engineering and switching to Business. Neither course was what he wanted to do. Jim took him in his office, they emerged an hour later. On our way home, Nick mentioned that Jim offered him an apprenticeship position has an Electrician. He was to start that Monday. Nick took the Job and is now a fully licensed electrician, and is currently working with a company in Halifax has the head of electrical. That hour that Jim took of his time to talk to Nick has made him who he is today. I cannot thank him enough! So truly sad to see him go! Donna, I’m sure it’s a really tough time for you to lose your best friend in life. Remember all the good times and great things Jim has done. Love to all.

Jim and I formed Matrix Construction Limited in 2003 and never looked back. I certainly enjoyed working with him over the years and learned a lot from his wealth of construction experience. He will be missed.
In the photo we are standing next to my truck. I don't know how I got him to stand for a picture in front of a Dodge.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family at this time.
I had the opportunity to be a colleague of Jim’s for a couple of years. We shared some great times together. Jim loved a little road trip to get out and price up a job or check on a job in progress. He always managed to time it in such a way that it would take us by one of his favorite lunch places! Many memories.
A great friend with a big soft heart.
