Dear family of Joe,
I had the pleasure of working with "Joe T" at the Sheriff's Office in Bridgewater - I was one of the "witches" as he so often "affectionately" referred to me and my co-worker, Lynn (in a way that only he could get away with)! I really admired him for how he treated and dealt with people (me included), no matter who they were, from politicians to prisoners, and how he always seemed to know the right thing to say. He kept us sane and laughing at the same time, in the crazy and the good times, with his jokes, stories and kind words when needed. I loved working with Joe. He was so good to me and I'll cherish my fond memories of him always. Love you dear Joe - after all these years of saying you were on your way, you finally made it upstairs and you've earned it.
My sincerest sympathy and caring thoughts to all of his family and friends in the loss of this lovely man,
Cheryl

My sincere condolences to Joe’s family. They say there are people you meet though the walk of life that leave an indelible mark on your life and for me it was Joe “T”.
Joe played Santa for many years at the courthouse in Bridgewater for staff, court workers and judges/lawyers families . He also would help us spread our anti drinking and driving campaigns at holiday checkpoints with Bridgewater RCMP. Joe would often pop into the det to say hi , see how I was doing, tell a joke or just be in the neighborhood and wanted to come in and share a story! A gentleman’s gentleman! An infectious smile and huge heart! When he retired from being Santa he put the clothes in a bag and gave it to me to follow the tradition. I kept it for many years while I was stationed at Bwater Det but could never come close to the spirit he envoked when he wore it! God bless ya Joe T. There definitely is a place for you with the angels!
Sincerely,
Les Kakonyi, retired RCMP member

“The stairway that leads to Heaven
is one we all must climb,
but be assured the grief you bear
will ease with passing time.
For the stairway leads to a garden
with a fragrance pure and sweet,
where your loved one walks amongst its joy -
where one day you will meet”.

To the family of Joe Tzagarakis:
Joe and I worked together for many years in Dick Turpin's pub. He was always entertaining, and you were never sad around him. He would call us from time to time, and we would reminisce about the old days. Joe was a fraternal brother and he will be missed, for his smile lit up the room, and his storytelling was never-ending. May all these memories give you comfort at this time.
your friends,

Dear family of Joe T. I feel privileged to have known Joe T, As we called him, in the court system. His interesting life experiences gave him great wisdom and compassion when dealing with prisoners and staff alike. His smile, daily jokes, and compassion was always a joy. Following retirement for both of us, I seen him frequently at the apartment complex where both he and my mom resided. He looked after her seeing she got her meals on wheels and so much other errands for her. R.I.P. dear Joe. God has brought home another angel. Lucille & Cedric Wentzell

Joe, a wise and faithful; friend, was never without a smile and a joke to cheer us up. Working in the court system can be stressful at the best of times but Joe was every present with a calming and sensible word for whoever was in need. Joe's monthly visit to my offices to drop off stamps for my collection, even after he and I both retired, was a mere example of how he made and continued connections with one and all. I cherish his friendship and the stories he had about his early years. Blessed heavenly father take extra special care of your son Joe and shine your face upon his family and all who counted him as a friend. - Lloyd T

Joe Tzagarakis
Joe T, Joe “The Greek” , 10 of Diamonds, by whatever name you knew him Joe was a friend you could count on. His friends came from every walk of life, Premiers, Judges, Law Enforcement, Criminal, you name a demographic, Joe had a friend in that group. He would treat all with the same respect, if it was warranted, he did not judge you by your status in society but by the person you were. He talked to everyone, and wow, could he talk!!, how often would I say when we worked together “ Joe we gotta go, you can chat later”.
I first met Joe in 1988, having moved from the Halifax Sheriff’s office to Bridgewater, I came into the office as the “Halifax guy”, but Joe took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. He taught me many things, but the biggest thing was the gift of gab, he often said he got a lot more out of using his mouth than his fists in life, and I quickly learned that talking was the most valuable tool we had in our job.
Each Christmas Joe would play Santa for all the staff’s kids, they would line up and wait for an opportunity to chat with this gravely old voice of Santa in wonder as to why Santa had this type of voice. “ Ho Ho Ho now what is it you want for Christmas, tell Santa” as their eyes got bigger almost shocked at how loud it was and how raspy it was, I told him it was from all his time talking in life. My two young kids would line up, get up on his knee , and let him know their wishes, get a candy cane and run back somewhat glad to be in my clutches. One night during the summer , Joe called me at home concerning a work issue, it was supper time and the kids were around the table enjoying supper, I said hello and instantly Joe’s booming , gravely voice filled the room , both of my kids heads shot around to me at the phone, eyes wide open and forks half way up, with this look of “ I know that voice” . I did my business with Joe, hung up the phone and returned to the table. My son said who was on the phone dad, I said “it was Santa and he was just checking in on you guys” not another word was said and the plates were emptied , including the dreaded vegetables. Years later, after I retired Joe and I would talk on the phone on a regular basis, my daughter lived with me while she attended Saint Mary’s, one day while she was having her breakfast the phone rang, it was Joe, his gravely booming voice once again filling the room. We talked I hung up, and Ali said, who was that dad, I said “ it was Santa he was just checkin up on you” she smiled, remembering the call from so many years ago.
I will miss my chats with Joe, he always signed off with a joke, even if it was the same joke as the last call I laughed , and then he would do his signature sign off on the phone “ Bye Boy” . So thanks Joe for all the gifts you gave me, and the memories , we had fun Bye Boy. Andy MacDonald , friend and co-worker
